5 Beauty Benefits of Water

We all know that we are supposed to drink eight glasses of water a day to be healthy. Water will re-hydrate our bodies allowing our organs, muscles, and skin to function more efficiently, like a well-oiled machine. But water is not only healthy as a drink; to give your skin, hair, and body a beauty boost, here are five benefits of water to help you look and feel your best.

1. Get shiny hair

You have probably received a cool-water rinse by your favorite hair dresser, and you have probably questioned its ability to make your hair shinier, as your stylist tells you. Does this really work, or is your stylist just making an extra process in order to squeeze out a few extra bucks from their customers? The truth is a cool-water rinse is very effective in making your hair shinier. This is because cooler temperatures restrict the cuticles in your hair. This makes your hair flatter, which as a result, makes your hair strands smoother and shinier.

2. Create wavy hair

There are plenty of products and lotions out there that claim to give you sexy, wavy hair with ease. But the greatest product for your hair in order to get those much craved waves is H2O. Hair strands consist of hydrogen bonds that are separate when your hair is dry. When your hair is wet, the hydrogen bonds are easily manipulated; therefore you can mold and form your hair when it is wet better than dry. You can now get those desired waves without emptying your wallet.

3. Get rid of your sagging, darkened eyes

Many things cause your eyes to look dark and droopy. Too much stress or too little sleep; take your pick in this modern world. But instead of reaching for your cold compress, which is indeed successful in getting rid of puffy, dark eyes, simply washing your face with cold water can do the trick as well. According to Ni’Kita Wilson, a cosmetic chemist, when water evaporates from the skin, the skin is left cooler as a result, which will make the skin around the eyes tighter and with more color. This is, however, only a temporary solution.

4. Tighten your skin

A very successful practice of Eastern Europe is to moisturize the skin in order to firm up the skin. What they did was sit in a steam room for a while followed by a cold bath or shower to shock the skin. This has been proven to be a successful technique to tighten skin, and it is easily done at home without spending spa-prices. Simply soak a face towel with hot water and keep it on your face for a minute or two. Then, take it off and wash your face with cold water.

5. Diminish the signs of wrinkles

Nobody likes wrinkles, and we do plenty each day in order to prevent the ultimate sign of aging. Most people attempt to diminish the signs of wrinkles by using expensive creams that do very little, if anything. Wrinkles are a sign of your body not having enough water; therefore washing your face and showering with soft water is the key to keeping wrinkles away.
