Finding ways to boost our health in simple ways is a great way to improve our lives without committing to a strict diet. There are plenty of ways that we improve our lives without sacrificing the things we like, and most of these do not require a large change to our lives.
Many people who fail at leading a healthy lifestyle cite the change in lifestyle as the number one reason for their failure. They say it is too difficult to cut out all sugar, or cut in half the number of carbs they consume in a day. We all want to be healthier, but the work involved is greater than the payoff, or at least that’s what we thought. Here are five incredibly simple things you can do every day to boost your health.
Give a little giggle
Laughing not only increases the release of your pleasure hormones, but it will also increase your blood flow by as much as 25 percent, according to a recent study conducted by University of Texas at Austin. The study showed that blood flow increased 21 percent over a period of 24 hours in people who watched a comedy on television. On the other hand, blood flow actually constricted by 18 percent in those who watched a serious documentary. I guess laughter really is the best medicine.
Have a nice cup of tea
Green and black teas have become quite the craze for health nuts, but don’t think that its recent popularity should make this a fad. Having at least three cups of tea a day will significantly lower your chances of having a stroke, up to 21 percent in fact. Both types of tea can help you prevent stroke due to the antioxidants and amino acid.
Toss out your TV remote
By getting up to change the channel on the TV as opposed to simply using your remote will help you thin out that belly by as much as two inches. An Australian study showed that when people do simple exercise – such as getting up to manually change the station – while doing sedentary activities had a waist line 16 percent smaller. That should be good enough for anyone!
Hold your partner’s hand
Simple physical contact with your partner, whether it is a hug or just holding hands – can significantly cut down on stress. When you are feeling overwhelmed, grab your husband’s hand for a few minutes; according to a recent study, you can easily cut stress as much as 200 percent. Plus, your relationship may just improve as a result, which should cut down on stress in the future.
Have a glass of milk at breakfast
According to a recent study, women who drank a large glass of milk at breakfast consumed 20 percent less at lunch. Because milk is heavier than fruit juices, you will likely feel more satisfied with your breakfast, meaning you will consume up to 50 fewer calories, which translates to about five pounds over a year.
