Pain Relievers for Pancreatitis Patients
Pancreatitis patients will be offered great relief if they are given Antioxidant supplements while they are under treatment.
A recent research has shown that supplements containing Beta-Carotene, Selenium, and Alpha-Tocopherol, will offer tremendous relief for patients that are suffering from Pancreatitis.
According to the recent research in India, 127 people were randomly chosen for the Placebo-control.
The preliminary result shows that 32 percent of the 127 people (people fed with antioxidant supplements) became pain free in the respect of the parameters used in measuring such pains, and while undergoing pancreatitis treatment.
The study details of this research indicates that since oxidative stress is implicated in the development of chronic pancreatitis, there will be need to study how effective antioxidants can relief the pains. A daily diet which include; 600 micrograms of organic selenium supplements were offered the 127 participants for the duration of the research, 0.54 g ascorbic acid, 9,000 IU beta-carotene, 270 IU alpha-tocopherol and 2 g methionine, or placebo were also offered to the participants in groups. This control experiments was done under 6 months.
At the end of the intervention period of the control experimental research, it was discovered that those that are fed with antioxidants supplements witnessed 7.4 per cent reduction in the number of painful days per month. This result shows that the patients who receive antioxidant dietary supplements have their pain reduced by more than 3.2 percent higher than what obtains among the placebo groups. There was also recorded , a significant amount of analgesic tablets taken per month in the antioxidant group.
The research group concluded that the effect of the antioxidants on the pains witnessed by the Pancreatitis patients were noticeable very early in the three months that the research was conducted.
There were two implications found in this research.
- The first major implication is that an initial increase and subsequent decrease in levels of oxidative stress after supplementation indicated that CP is partly characterized by a state of heightened free radical mediated injury. Moreover, the subsequent reduction suggested that this injury is reversible.
- The second implication is that it is very possible to give sufferers of CP a major relief through antioxidant supplements. The discovery of the effect of antioxidant in the relief of CP shows that the research is a major breakthrough since no other detections has been made as regarding a relief for Pancreatitis patients.
Similar researches in the past has linked Antioxidants to a number of duties.
It was detected that Antioxidants offer great abdominal pain relief to patients suffering from some infections, it does this by attacking the oxidative stress that result from such infections. Anti oxidants have also been linked with several pain relief efforts for patients suffering from mild indigestion, mild headaches, running stomach, Arthritis, Rheumatism, and several other diseases.
