Pop Princess Christina Aguilera Sheds Weight And Pop Star Image
Christina Aguilera first came to prominence as a member of the crew on The Mickey Mouse Club, singing her way into the lounge rooms, and the hearts, of music loving teens across the country.
The then slender young singer went on to record the theme song for the 1998 Disney film Mulan. Called Reflection, it reached #19 on the U.S. Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart and received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song.
In 1999 her debut album was responsible for several Billboard Hot 100 number 1 songs including Genie in a Bottle, What a Girl Wants, and Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You). She followed it up with 2 albums in 2000 that were responsible for her winning the Grammy Award for Best New Artist that same year.
In 2002 she took over creative control of her 4th album and headed her image in a new direction to that of the ‘pop star’ image she’d portrayed so far. The first of several such image changes over the next decade.
She has also spent time as one of the coaches on The Voice, participating in the first 3 seasons before returning to the set for the 5th, 8th and 10th seasons to date. Christina has 2 children. The first, a son, was born in 2008 and Christina quickly bounced back to her pre pregnancy self. However, in 2012 she was criticized for letting her weight creep up. In 2013 she lost it all again and was back to her former slim self.
