Homemade Hair Growth Treatments

It makes hair shinier, stronger and removes the buildup of substances that suffocate the scalp and slows down hair growth. Vinegar can be used by itself or in many other treatments. To use it by itself mix 1 part with 2 parts of water, and use it as a final rinse after shampooing.
Egg yolk will keep your hair shiny, soft and healthy and help it to grow long. It is rich in vitamins, proteins and fatty acids which nurture your hair. Mix the yolk of 2 eggs with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and dilute the mixture with ½ to 1/3 cups of water. Massage this mask slowly and thoroughly into your scalp. Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes so that the scalp can absorb all the nutrients. Rinse off. Use this treatment once or twice a month.
Almond oil contains many fatty acids which makes it very good for strengthening and growing out your hair. Take a sufficient quantity depending on your hair thickness and length and massage it in from the roots to the tips. Use it weekly for simple nourishment or twice a week for damaged or dry hair.
Fenugreek seeds paste
This is one of the best treatments for hair growth. It works to remove the dead cells from the scalp, thus improving hair growth. It is also a very good treatment for hair fall. 1 teaspoon of fenugreek seed paste and mix it with 2 teaspoons of coconut milk. Apply to your hair and leave it on for 30 minutes. Rinse off with a mild shampoo. By the way, fenugreek also helps to preserve your natural color.
Henna is best known as a hair color and conditioner. It also improves hair growth by strengthening the hair roots. You can make a pack of 1 cup of henna powder and ½ cup of yogurt. Apply it over your hair and leave it on until it is completely dry, and wash off with a mild shampoo.
The hair growth benefits of potato juice are known to few people. Using it is easy. Simply apply the juice to your scalp, and leave on for 15 minutes. Potato juice can also have an effect on patchy hair loss (alopecia areata).
Amla (Indian Gooseberry)
This berry is loaded with antioxidants and Vitamin C. Antioxidants are substances that inhibit the growth of free radicals. This increases blood circulation in the scalp, thus simulating hair growth. Amla also prevents grey hair. Combine 2 teaspoons of Amla juice or powder with the same amount of lime juice and apply to your scalp. Let it dry, and rinse off with warm water.
This flower has long been known to Ayurvedic practitioners as a curative for various hair problems. It enhances hair growth and improves hair health, by preventing dandruff thickening hair. To use it make a paste with sesame oil or coconut oil, and apply it on your hair. Leave it on for some time, and rinse off with a mild shampoo.
Hair Fall Treatments:
Onion juice is one of the oldest remedies for hair loss. It is rich in sulfur which promotes the production of the protein collagen. Collagen is one of the main constituents of hair. Use either red onions or shallots. Chop into small pieces, and squeeze out the juice. Apply it to your scalp and leave it for 15 minutes. Rinse off with a mild shampoo.
Garlic is well known for its many medicinal properties. It can cure hair loss and encourage growth of new hair. It does this by improving blood circulation of the scalp. Boil a few crushed cloves of garlic in olive oil or coconut oil. Let it cool and apply the mixture on the roots of your hair. Rinse with a mild shampoo. Repeat this treatment thrice a week.
Rosemary and Rosemary Oil
Rosemary used both as a tea and as oil is effective in combating hair loss and encouraging hair growth. Steep 1 teaspoon of dried rosemary in hot water for 20 minutes. Strain the liquid and wash your hair with it. Half a cup of apple cider vinegar may also be added to it.
Use rosemary oil by mixing it with your shampoo or conditioner. You could also mix it with olive oil or tea tree oil and massage your scalp with the mixture.
Lavender oil has wide usage as a treatment for patchy hair loss (alopecia areata). You can prepare a mixture of lavender oil and other essential oils such as rosemary, thyme and jojoba in equal amounts. Apply the mixture on the scalp and cover with a shower cap. Rinse off after an hour.
Jojoba oil has hydrating and moisturizing qualities to repair dry and damaged hair. It moisturizes the hair follicles and increases blood circulation, stimulating Hair growth.
The benefits of olive oil are well known. It is used in all kinds of body, facial and hair treatments. Olive oil prevents the formation of DTH hormones and is rich in antioxidants. This helps it stop and prevent further hair loss and stimulate hair growth.
Olive oil can be a part of your daily diet as cooking medium, or applied to your hair sometime before a shampoo. It can be used with sage, rosemary and lavender oils as a hot oil treatment.
Nettle oil is especially good for thickening and growing out thin hair. To use it, you need to make a tonic consisting of 1 ounce of nettle leaves, 2 cups of white wine vinegar and 2 cups of water. Also make sure you have lavender oil as you will need it later. Place the nettle leaves, vinegar and water in a stainless steel or non-stick pan and let it simmer on the stove for 2 hours. Let the mixture cool and strain it. Add 2 drops of lavender oil to the strained mixture. Store it into a bottle with a tight lid. Before using shake it well, and massage the tonic into your scalp every other night.
