Could Lane Johnson supplements be behind the massive Texan’s recent suspensions? At 6’6” tall and weighing in at 325 pounds Lane Johnson is one of the big guys of the NFL. He plays offensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles. No surprises there. It’s a position ideally suited to big heavy guys. The bigger the better in fact.
Lane may be big but he’s also athletic. He played football in high school and competed in field events, being a particularly good discus thrower. He went on to play football for the Oklahoma Sooners at the University of Oklahoma between 2009 and 2012. At the 2013 Indianapolis NFL Scouting Combine his athleticism in general made him a stand out among the other 56 offensive linesmen in attendance. His performances were tipped to put him into the first found of the draft. Better still, they made him a potential top 10 pick.
These predictions subsequently proved correct; Johnson was pick number 4 in the 2013 NFL Draft. He went to the Philadelphia Eagles, earning himself a $12.81 million signing bonus and a 4-year $19.85 million contract. This was extended in 2016 when he signed a $63 million 6-year extension to become the NFL’s highest paid right tackle.
During 2013 preseason training the Eagles’ regular starting right tackle wound up requiring season ending back surgery. This gave Johnson the starting right tackle position in the Eagles 2013 line up. The big guy was on his way! The Eagles opened their 2013 campaign with a win over the Washington Redkins. Johnson played in all 16 games during the season and contributed to the team’s qualification for the play-offs. He has regularly ranked among the top tackles in the NFL ever since.
Suspensions – Were Lane Johnson Supplements Involved?
Johnson has also had his fair share of run ins with NFL officials over positive tests for banned substances. He claims they were regular supplements he used without being aware they contained compounds on the NFL’s banned list. Or at least not on the NFLPA’s player app version of the list! The NFL maintains that a banned substance is a banned substance and ignorance is not a valid excuse for a positive test. They may be right! Johnson is also reportedly taking legal action against the company that manufactures the supplement.
His first suspension came in 2014 when he was banned for 4 games after a positive test for PEDs. He was suspended again in 2016, this time for 10 games. Today Lane Johnson prefers to play it safe. He has learnt a thing or two about diet and dietary supplements. His goal now is to get his nutrition from what he eats, not what he takes. However, we believe Lane Johnson supplements are all natural and probably not the supplements in question.
