If you’ve got an upcoming wedding or special event to attend and need to lose 10 to 20 pounds quickly, The Wedding Day Diet is perfect for you. This is a rapid 30 day weight loss plan that is pretty straight forward, but also pretty strict. Matt Marshall originally created this diet plan for men, which he fully admits, but later adopted it for women. I find that both men and women can follow this plan since the adjustments are minor (special instructions for women are written in pink).
First of all, Matt writes in a very “pull-no-punches” style. He’s pretty frank and sometimes funny. He spends a lot of time in the first part of the book explaining the concept of his diet and why many people fail on the average diet. He sees himself as an average guy and his diet plan is written for the average person.
Average or not, there is a lot of good information in this book about diet, nutrition and exercise.
I found it a very easy and enjoyable read. It’s 102 pages, but the chapters are short. If you’re the impatient type, you can skip the first part and get to the “meat and potatoes” of the diet plan starting at chapter 19.
While there are many low calorie diet plans available, The Wedding Day Diet is really easy to understand. Matt gives you a step-by-step 30 day diet meal plan (the same plan that he used to drop 15 pounds) which is very clear about what foods you’ll be eating during this time.
One thing that’s very important for you to know is that this diet does not allow you to cheat – so no cheating days where you can eat whatever you want. Also, there is a lot of cardio exercise and muscle training as well.
Ladies, don’t be put off by the muscle training portion. Matt effectively dispels the common myth that it’s easy to gain big muscles – the main reason why most women don’t do this type of workout. Actually, it’s pretty tough to gain muscle mass, and in any event, this plan only uses muscle training to maintain your current amount of muscle.
Did you know that diets often cause you to lose muscle mass? This isn’t good because losing muscle will actually cause your metabolism to slow down drastically – not what you want when burning fat.
The diet is pretty regimented and you’ll be regularly eating chicken, fish, beef, eggs, salad greens, fresh fruit, nuts, peanut butter, breakfast bars, and protein shakes. He gives you the exact amount, so there’s no guesswork. There are some body calculations you’ll have to do in order to come up with your individual serving amounts of protein and carbs, but he even makes these calculations a breeze to figure out. Wish he was my math teacher in school!
I have to say that, in my opinion, this is one of the best 30-day diet plans to lose weight that, not only promises, but can deliver real results. I didn’t say it was easy, but if you stick with it for four weeks, you should be able to fit into your wedding attire quit nicely.
