Weight Loss Exercises – Cross Country Running, Anyone?

If football or cheer-leading isn’t all that high on your priority list of weight loss solutions, and basketball leaves you wondering why anyone would ever bother, then what about cross country running? Cross country is a challenging and unique sport that could really change your life.

There are so many benefits to being part of a cross country team – social, physical , and mental. XC can actually transform you into a whole new person. You can discover a healthy activity that you can enjoy for the rest of your life without having to sweat it out in a stuffy gym or having to ever worry about putting on unwanted weight again. Is that how you feel about football?

Check out some of these reasons to join a cross country team:

Keep Healthy and Trim

Running cross country means running a lot of weekly miles, which is a fantastic way to stay fit and keep off unwanted weight. You will gain muscle tone, endurance, and a healthy profile.

Over time you will almost crave the good feelings you get from running, which is the famous “runner’s high” caused by the release of the body’s natural endorphins. It feels great, and gives you more positive energy that will carry over into all aspects of your life.

Everybody Runs

There’s nobody on the sidelines in XC. Everybody runs. In some other sports, you sit out the game if you don’t make the cut, and even then you can get swapped in and out of the game at random. But in XC, if you can run the distance, you’re in the race. It’s a sport of determination and hard work, not flash. It’s almost guaranteed that, if you keep running and working hard, you will make the team and get to run in every race!

Low Budget

There’s no need for any fancy equipment or specialized gear to run cross country, just a decent pair of cross country shoes. And won’t that make the parents happy for a change? Enough said.

Happy running!
