If you are finding it extremely difficult to stick to your weight loss goals; well, you’re certainly not alone. According to Bodybuilding.com 73% of all the people that set weight loss as a New Year’s resolution give up on it within the first three months.
Working out and dieting requires enormous willpower and discipline to maintain. Once you decide to eat healthy, for instance, that tantalizing aroma every time you pass your favorite fast foods café suddenly becomes more appealing.
Ironically, just when you want to go for your early morning jog, that’s when your boss calls with an urgent assignment. In other words, you’ll have a lot of obstacles along the way. You need something to always keep you focused on your goal; something to bring you back when you seem to steer off course.
Here are a few things that you can use as morale boosters anytime you feel your morale is wavering.
It’s important to have an image of that perfect body shape and weight in your mind as a constant reminder of your ultimate goal. Ask yourself questions that motivate you. For instance:
How will getting rid of your love handles change your life? You’ll definitely love the sexier look, won’t you?
Imagine going to your favorite store and trying out a number of denim jeans that fit you perfectly at your new weight. Imagine the compliments and admiration that you’ll get from your friends.
How would that make you feel?
Having a clear picture of where you want to be will always keep you firmly focused on your goal. Look for a picture of someone who is trim and perfect – there are plenty of those in magazines and all around – and stare at it every day to ensure the image is burned into your mind!
That will make visualization easier.
What are the benefits of losing weight again?
Keep reminding yourself of the benefits in store for you when you shed the extra pounds. And there are very many; you won’t have a problem with that.
There is nothing as boring as staring at hospital ceilings. Remind yourself that your weight loss goal is meant to keep the doctor away!
Just as a reminder, here are some of the health benefits of losing weight (including face fat):
- You’ll be more energized (and therefore perform highly)
- Cures your insomnia
- Reduces stress
- Boosts your self-esteem
- Improves your breathing
- Reduces risks of high blood pressure, stroke, cardiovascular conditions, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and joint problems
And many others…
Surround yourself with people that motivate you
The power of suggestion is very influential in our lives. The opinions of your friends and family impact the decisions you make positively or negatively.
It’s crucial to hang around people that motivate you towards your goal. If you have a gym membership, make friends with people who have been exercising for long and attained their weight loss goals. They will inspire you and act as role models for you.
Take your mothers advice however cliché it may appear; birds of a feather flock together!’
Rest but never quit
If you are completely drained having to exercise and diet, it’s OK to take a break. Take a week off from your exercise regimen – after discussing it with your trainer. Spoil yourself a little bit.
The beauty of taking a break is that it gives you the impetus to go on with renewed vigor. However, never make it a habit to take breaks with any sign of discouragement. Push yourself to the limit.
Within a few short months, you’ll be looking amazing and exuding confidence!
