What is Nutrition? Your Muscle Building Nutrition Plan

A Muscle Building Nutrition Plan? Sometimes in the world of building muscle there is so much information available online that it is hard to get a clear definition on key terms. One of these terms is nutrition.

A basic definition of nutrition is the science of food and how the body uses certain chemicals that are broken down from food. All food that you eat contains chemicals are called nutrients. Nutrients can either help or hurt your body depending on what they are. Therefore it is critically important that you understand exactly what goes into your body, especially when trying to build muscle.

The first thing you need to know is that your body needs many nutrients in order to survive and fully function on a daily basis. But don’t worry, as long as you are consuming a decent amount of calories per day you shouldn’t have any nutrient deficiencies.

However, there are always nutrients your body could use more of, such as Vitamin A or Vitamin D. Sodium is a nutrient that your body could use less of, because most every processed food made today contains high amounts of sodium.

It is up to you, the muscle builder, to figure out what your body needs relating to your workout routine. If you are going to be trying to get ripped and put on many pounds of muscle, then you will need a lot of protein. If you want more energy while working out, you need more carbohydrates, found in foods such as bread and cereals.

Protein and carbohydrates will definitely help your body when you work out whereas saturated fats and sodium might hurt your workout routine and your overall results due to their negative effect on the body.

Pick a USDA approved Muscle Building Nutrition Plan

To start building a nutritious diet, one of the best things you can start doing is to check the nutritional labels on the back of food packages at the grocery store. These labels have to be USDA approved and contain the amounts of carbohydrates, proteins, calories, saturated and trans fats, sodium, and many other nutrients that the food is composed of.

Word of caution: Most all processed foods contain high amounts of salt. Be careful of sodium because it can wreak havoc upon your nutritional diet. It will have negative effects in excess amounts. Also be wary of the numbers on the nutritional labels because they are weighted to the serving size.

For example, a 16 oz. bottle of soda can have as many as 3 serving sizes within the container. If you want to drink the entire bottle of soda, you have to multiply each of the nutritional values by 3 to get the values for the whole bottle.

After changing your habits to buying more healthy foods and staying away from high calorie-high salt products you’ll be amazed with how much better you feel and look. A nutritional diet is critical for anyone who wants to build muscle. Try it out!
